The Environmental Science Program at The University of Alabama provides an interdisciplinary perspective and training to prepare students to solve complex environmental challenges at global to local scales. Our multidisciplinary curriculum leading to the BS degree in Environmental Science is a hybrid between a professional degree with a structured plan and a liberal arts degree that allows students the flexibility to tailor the selection of courses to their interests.

The structured portion of our curriculum ensures that all University of Alabama Environmental Science graduates have a solid foundation in ecological and earth surface processes, data collection and analysis, and nature-society interactions. The more flexible portion of the curriculum allows students to either specialize in a subfield or take courses across the breadth of Environmental Science. Students also have the option to earn a concentration in Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation.
